Message	it's all about making it as inconveniant as possible for the thiefs. A good alarm system is a start, often that red flashing light alone might deter a thief and send him towards an easier target. Removing or hiding all these gadgets you have laying around in your car is also basic good practice. You already admitted to about a dozen things that should not have been left in plain vu in your car.
